Owning an electric fireplace can be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. If you are looking for an easy way to heat your house, it very well may be the best way to go, but if you are looking for a romantic atmosphere and the crackling of the fire, this definitely isn’t what you are looking for. Electric fireplaces have a lot to offer to some people, but they just aren’t good enough for others. While buying an electric fireplace can save you money, you might be loosing out on some of the advantages of other types of fireplaces.

The primary advantage to electric fireplaces is their compact and simple setup. Electric fireplace inserts can be found in most hardware stores or home decorating stores, and with an electric fireplace insert you can put it absolutely anywhere in your house. With an electric fireplace, corner spaces are perfect and you won’t have to waste space. A corner electric fireplace can provide a nice accent to a room without limiting the usage of the room.

One of the major downsides to electric fireplaces is that they don’t actually burn anything. Therefore, unless you make an effort to put in electric fireplace logs or some other form of decoration, they tend to look pretty bland or fake. The fake electric fireplace look is not very conducive to a romantic atmosphere, but if you are only looking for a source of heat, then you should be just fine. The electric fireplace heater is extremely efficient so it does serve its purpose well; it just isn’t the prettiest option.

If you are looking for great electric fireplaces, there are a few places to check out first. Sears’ electric fireplaces are well known for their great value, amongst other things. Charmglow electric fireplaces are also very popular, and they have some very intricate designs. The only real downside to a Charmglow electric fireplace is that they tend to cost a little more because of their brand name. If you want a discount electric fireplace, check your local hardware store or home decorating store and they usually have some pretty good deals to get you started.

Using an electric fireplace stove to heat a particular room of your house is a great way to go, but keep in mind that electric fireplaces are meant to be convenient above all else. Thus, if you are really looking to increase the aesthetic value of your house, you’ll be better off going with something other than electric. Still, electric fireplaces do have their time and place to shine.
